Who doesn’t love a Marian Feast Day?!
Today we celebrate Mary’s fiat, her “YES!” to God. We remember her being overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and becoming the Mother of God!
“Behold, the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done unto me according to your word”
In the mystery of the Incarnation which we celebrate today, “we can see Jesus only in Mary,” (True Devotion, 254). Saint Louis DeMontfort speaks of Jesus in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary as voluntarily “captive…depend[ing] on [Mary] for all things.”
We learn from the mystery of the Incarnation that we will find Jesus living in Mary. We do well to follow Christ’s example in surrendering everything to the Blessed Virgin, who surrenders everything to say “Yes” to God.
The only grace I beg thee, for me, is that every moment of the day, and every moment of my life, I may say, “Amen, so be it, to all that thou art doing in heaven. Amen, so be it, to all thou didst do while on earth. Amen, so be it, to all thou art doing in my soul,” so that thou alone mayest fully glorify Jesus in me for time and eternity. Amen.
